This exquisite bronze statue of Buddha, named "Sakyamuni," is meticulously carved. Standing at 38 centimeters in height, 23 centimeters in width, and 15 centimeters in depth, this remarkable piece weighs 6 kilograms (excluding packaging).
In this portrayal, Buddha assumes the Bhûmisparsha-Mudrā, known as the Mudrā of touching the earth. Just after achieving enlightenment, Buddha touches the earth in defiance of Mara, the embodiment of evil, who refuses to acknowledge Buddha's attainment of the ultimate wisdom. Seated gracefully in the lotus position, Buddha delicately places his fingertips on the ground, symbolizing the act of bearing witness. As he calls upon the earth goddess, she promptly appears, paying homage by twisting her abundant hair; the water she summons washes away Mara's armies. The statue's flawless face and gentle smile encourage meditation and self-awareness, promising to bring tranquility and serenity to its beholder.
"Sakyamuni" is one of Buddha's titles, signifying his affiliation with the Sakya Tribe. According to Buddhist tradition, Buddha achieved enlightenment at Bodhgaya, a significant pilgrimage site where he meditated under the Bodhi tree.
Widely revered as an enlightened being, Buddha serves as a profound source of inspiration for those seeking truth and wisdom. His teachings, deeply rooted in humanism, advocate for cultivating kindness, compassion, and equanimity towards all living beings.
