CURIOSITIES ABOUT GARNET
Ancient Vedic texts record the origin story of many gemstones, including Garnet. According to legend, long ago the demon Vala took the form of a stone cave where stolen cows were hidden. Indra, the leader of the demigods, separated Vala, killing him and freeing the cows. Vala's body was scattered across the earth and her various body parts were turned into gemstones. Her toenails then became Red Garnet!
The Romans, on the other hand, believed that the grenade brought out passion and anger and that's why it was chosen to represent Mars, the god of war. Centuries later, warriors in India used grenades in weapons instead of bullets as they believed that a wound inflicted by the red stone would cause a more serious injury than a mere bullet. On the other hand, Christians saw the Garnet as a symbol of Christ's suffering on the cross and the Qur'an describes the light of the fourth level of heaven shining as a garnet. In Hindu and Buddhist traditions, red garnets were associated with red lotus flowers and were believed to increase wealth and fertility.
