Obsidian is not considered a crystal because its molecular structure is amorphous, its formation occurs through volcanic eruptions, thus being categorized as volcanic glass, and carries a very strong energy linked to the centre of the earth. Because it has this type of structure, obsidian is one of the most counterfeit crystals that exist, as it is quite easy to make, being commonly sold in various shades of blue and green, however, until today, only dark coloured obsidians have been discovered – black, red, grey, with golden rays or rainbows, so whenever something comes up with very colourful tones to be sold as Obsidian it is actually simple glass without any energetic quality.
Rainbow Obsidian is a black crystal with a slight iridescence and as we move it in the light we can observe some colours of the rainbow.
This is a crystal that acts as a bridge between the dark and light sides within us, making it a powerful ally whenever we are ready to do intense inner work.
Rainbow Obsidian offers us a safe passage and guidance to the dark parts of ourselves that scare us the most so we can find and process whatever pain is trapped there. It also helps us find the lost parts of ourselves so that we can heal and recover them.
Like all varieties of Obsidian, Rainbow Obsidian is called the stone of inner truth, often used for deep meditations of forgiveness and personal search and is extremely intense. However, while Black Obsidian can reveal the truth in a harsh and somewhat brusque way, Rainbow Obsidian reveals things in a soft way so that we can process and understand them more easily.
As it is a highly intense crystal, it is recommended that you start using Obsidian in a phased way and that you stop using it from time to time.
