Although it only exists in Russia, it is possible to find different qualities of Shungite that vary according to the percentage of carbon. The more carbon Shungite has in its composition, the more its quality increases, making it more valuable. Shungite Elite is characterized by its strong and shiny grey and has 98% carbon, making it the highest quality Shungite. Black, dull Shungite appears with only 30% carbon.
Why is this mineral so rare? Because in addition to only existing in one place on the planet, this form of carbon does not exist in anything else in nature.
