Important to read: Before first use and maintenance
Before using the Tetsubin cast iron teapot for the first time, put a small cup of green tea leaves in the iron pot and fill the pot 2/3 with water. Boil for 20 minutes, turn off the heat and let it stand for 5-6 minutes. Then pour out the dark water.
Fill the kettle with water again and boil 6-8 times until the water is clear and the kettle is ready for use. This procedure is useful because the dissolved tannin in the tea enters into a chemical reaction with the iron in the kettle. A layer of tannin iron is formed on the surface of the iron kettle, which prevents the iron kettle from rusting.
About 5 days after the first use, some red and rust spots appear inside, and white deposits appear in about 10 days.
After long-term use, the inside will become completely red. If the water does not become cloudy, it does not matter, just leave it as it is.
After use, empty the pot, let it cool and dry the inside. After drying, put the lid on. Do not leave water in the iron pot when not in use. Do not cover it with the lid before the pot has cooled down. Wipe the lid dry with a cloth so that the inside of the pot does not get wet due to condensation.
Suitable heat sources for iron teapots are carbon fire, gas stove, induction cooker and electric ceramic stove, since the iron teapot is suitable for gradual heating. The gradual heating slowly releases a little iron inside, which increases the taste of the drinking water and helps the body absorb the iron, which has the same effect as an iron supplement.
